The vampire has long been a source of morbid fascination, particularly for authors of gothic fiction. Although The Vampyre - Polidori's uninspired pilfering of an unfinished tale by Lord Byron in 1819 - sparked a hugely popular revival in vampire literature that eventually led, in 1897, to Bram Stoker's Dracula (and its subsequent exhaustive film adaptation), vampire fiction can be traced back as far as classical Greece.

Dark Shadows aired on June 27, 1966. It was on the air through 1971 and comprised over 1200 episodes and two full length movies. While on the air the series was continually at the mercy of the ratings. As a result it constantly tested the bounds of what had been done before on T.V. and what was considered acceptable.

Today I was reflecting on what I learned in the 8th grade. The science and energy teacher told us he had something written on the board behind the screen that would change our lives forever. He told us that this one statement 5 words long would touch just about everything in our lives. He asked if we were ready-stepped aside and raised the screen. On the board it read :

Lisa Manderach was three weeks short of her thirtieth birthday when she went for a quick errand to Your Kidz & Mine, a new children's clothing store in Collegeville, Pennsylvania on September 10, 1995.
